The Airport boasts of a variety of cuisine available at the different restaurants. For those who would like grab quick bite before taking off, the first floor departure area has a coffee shop, while on the landside, there is an ice-cream counter (Moven pick), and a snack counter called Mariyadhu Restaurant. And for those who would like to eat more elaborate food, there is the Aqua Restaurant.

02 MusicBodu Meru is the most popular form of music and dance in the country, believed to have been introduced by the African slaves in the early 19th Century. Historians believe that Thaara, which holds a special place in local entertainment have been introduced from the Middle East in the seventeenth century. Other forms of dance such as Bandiya Jehun have a strong South Asian flavour. Today, Western pop and Indian music is popular with the young and the old.
03Art and CraftThe Maldivians are skilled craftsmen. 02 Male Excursions Male’ Excursions are organized regularly by resorts in Male’ Atoll, however some resorts in other atolls also offer you the opportunity to visit the capital during your stay. Male’ is the political and commercial hub of the country.
03 Hukuru Miskiiy Hukuru Miskiiy or the Friday Mosque is one of the oldest buildings in the country. It was built in 1656 during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar. It contains some of the finest samples of Maldivian workmanship. The walls of the mosque are made up of coral blocks each with intricate carvings of Arabic verses and ornamental patterns. The minaret or “Munnaaru” adjacent to the mosque was built in 1675 by the same Sultan.
04 Mulee-aage – The Presidential Palace Mulee-aage, the former presidential palace was built in 1908, just before the first World War by Sultan Shamsuddeen III for his son. However the Sultan was deposed and his son was never able to take up the throne. In 1953, during the time of the first Republic, the building was designated as the Presidential Palace and was the official residence of the president until the new Presidential Palace was built. Today, Muliaage is the current 'Official Residence of the President of Maldives, which is located at the historic centre of Male’ in close proximity of the Medhu Ziyaarai and the Munnaru.
05 Theemuge Theemuge is the site of the former presidential palace of Maldives, upgraded to presidential standards in 1992. Theemuge served as the presidential palace until 2008. The design and architecture of the palace combines the grandeur of local tradition with modernity. However, today, Theemuge houses the Supreme Court of Maldives.
06 Islamic Centre Dominating the Male’ skyline from the sea is the shining golden dome and the minaret of the Islamic Centre, opened in 1984. In addition to its central feature - The Grand Mosque, holds up to 5000 people and in addition, the Islamic Centre houses a conference hall, an Islamic library and classrooms. The main prayer hall displays some of the best works of present day Maldivian calligraphers.
07 Sultan Park and Museum The Sultan Park and the National Museum are part of the old Sultan’s Palace and the Palace grounds during the time of the monarchy. The museum opened in 1952 and displays a large variety of objects and artifacts from times gone by. The collection comprises of relics from the pre-Islamic times to royal antiquities belonging to different monarchs. The Museum is opened from 9.am to 3 pm ecept Fridays and public holidays.
08 Medhuziyaarai: The tomb of Abu –Al Barakaat Yoosuf al-Barbari, to whom the nation pays its respects for bringing to the shores the enlightenment of Islam in the twelfth century A.D.
09 The Republic Square: You will not miss the small park with its fountain and the tall mast with the National Flag fluttering gently in the breeze. The Republic Square is an open space many residents of Male’, young and old enjoy, especially during the weekends.
